Building West Michigan: FCC's Impact on the Local Construction Landscape

When FCC Construction was founded in 1959, West Michigan looked very different from what it does today.

Over the years, we've watched communities expand, local businesses grow, manufacturers invest, and new schools, churches, healthcare facilities, and public spaces become part of the landscape. It's been rewarding to know that FCC has had the opportunity to help build many of those places that people use every day.

While the construction industry has changed significantly over the decades, the purpose behind the work hasn't. Technology has made projects more efficient, safety standards continue to improve, and new building methods have changed how we approach construction. But at its core, our industry is still about delivering quality work, building lasting relationships, and creating projects that stand the test of time.

At FCC, we've always believed that being a builder means more than managing a project. We self-perform much of our work with our skilled crews, giving us greater control over quality, safety, and schedules, and we take pride in the craftsmanship that goes into every project. That hands-on approach has been part of who we are since the beginning.

Just as important as the work itself are the relationships we've built throughout West Michigan. One of the things I'm most proud of is the number of locally owned businesses we've had the privilege of working alongside over the years. Many of those companies have trusted us through multiple expansions, renovations, and new facilities as their businesses have grown. Supporting local businesses has always been important to us because when West Michigan businesses succeed, our communities become stronger.

That commitment has resulted in long-term partnerships, repeat clients, and referrals that span decades. Those relationships aren't built overnight. They're earned by doing what you say you're going to do, treating people fairly, and delivering quality work every time you step onto a jobsite.

Looking ahead, I continue to see tremendous opportunity across West Michigan. Manufacturing and industrial construction remain strong, healthcare continues to expand, and investments in infrastructure and technology are creating new opportunities throughout our region. West Michigan has always been driven by hardworking local businesses, and I believe they'll continue to fuel growth for years to come.

What excites me most about FCC's future, though, is our people. We have a great team with the experience, work ethic, and commitment to continue serving this community well. As West Michigan continues to grow, we're excited to keep doing what we've done for more than 65 years: helping local businesses achieve their goals, building projects that strengthen our communities, and leaving behind work we're proud to put our name on.
