Project Information: This project was unique in that construction took place in an active, occupied hangar. With multiple aircraft housed inside, cleanliness and attention to detail were critical—crews even walked magnets at the end of each shift to protect landing gear from debris. FCC maintained operations by keeping the existing door intact while building the new structure and hangar door externally, ensuring a safe barrier between work zones. A new foam fire suppression system was added, supported by a dedicated water main, allowing Duncan Aviation to store fueled aircraft in the hangar. Ongoing coordination with Duncan and the Kalamazoo Airport Authority helped bring the project in early and on budget.
